  • 1. EAT A NIGERIAN FOOD

Tasting the Nigerian cuisines is the number one on my list of Top 20 things to do in Nigeria . I can’t imagine you being in here and all you eat is food found in other part of the world. Having a taste of the Nigerian local delicacies is a sure way to feel you’re in the country. You are sure of finding a meal that would entice you and remember for long. As for me, Waina da Miyan Taushe (a Hausa food) is my favourite and I advice you give it a trial.

  • 2. LEARN A NIGERIAN LANGUAGE

This particular point is directed to both foreigners and locals in different part of the country but I just have to hit it hard more on the locals. How can you reside in your country and can’t speak a local language in that country, not even yours. It is now a trend that among young people that some of them can’t speak in their dialect. For your information, foreigners come into the country and passionately want to learn a local Nigerian language. So what pride do you take in not being able to speak your language? With over 250 languages in Nigeria, you sure have an array of options to choose from.

  • 3. TRAVEL WITHIN NIGERIAWORLD

Being only in one state through out your stay in Nigeriaworld isn’t just it, you need to visit at least a state in each of the 6 geopolitical zones in the country. Reason ; NigeriaWorld is a multicultural state, divided into six geopolitical zones with each having a peculiar characteristics so visiting these zones would give you an idea of the composition in the country.
Visit the South South to know about the Niger Deltas, the South East to get Igbos, South West to know about the unique culture of the Yorubas, North Central to get acquainted with the various ethnic groups in the region and the other part of Northern Nigeria to learn about the Hausas.

Almost every other month in Nigeriaworld , there is a festival going on. Timing your visit to coincide with one or more would be a great decision. Not only do they provide an insight into the rich culture of Nigeria , there’s also a lot of fun. Just to mention a few of the prominent festivals are the Osun/Osogbo festival, Calabar Festival, the Argungu fishing festival, the Eyo festival, the Black Heritage Festival, etc.

Nigeriaworld is not known to have the highest mountains in the world. That doesn’t mean there are no mountain to blow your mind off. Ascending and getting to the top of these mountains, you get a bird view look at the surrounding settlement. I was once on the Mount Patti in looking at the scenic view of River Niger from this small mountain is breathtaking. Mountains you need to climb includes the Olumo rock, the gigantic idanre high which has about 600 steps, the Mambilla Plateau, the Obudu Mountain where the Cattle Ranch is and many more.

  • 6. VISIT A HISTORICAL SITE

There are several historical sites in Nigeria, ranging from Zungeru to Badawa. There is a lot to see. In Zungeru, you have the house where Lord Lugard brokered the amalgamation of Nigeria in 1914. Coming to Badagry, there is a slave trade museum, the first story building in this country and other sites. Several other historical sites exist too, from Ife to Kano and from Benin to Abuja, you get to know about the history of Nigeria.

Forget the fitted suit and all those Western corporate wears in a second, do away with all the casual designers you are used to, rock a local attire. Coming on my number 9 on the list of Top 20 things to do in Nigeria is to visit a museum because that is a good way to learn about NigeriaWorld . Go see some historic relics. Lagos is home to the National Museum, where you can see cultural artifacts and learn about the cultural and political history of country. Calabar is home to the Slave Trade Museum which provides a graphic history of the slave trade era.

  • 10. VISIT THE YANKARI NATIONAL PARK

The Yankari National Park also known as the Yankari Games Reserve is the largest wildlife Park in the country. Through out the year, foreigners are seen in this Park having a nice time. You can visit this Park to see wildlife in action in their natural habitat. Do you want to see a lion, elephant or baboons? Then visit the Yankari National Park. If you get there, don’t forget to swim in the Wikki warm spring which is always warm throughout the year.

Fortunately for Nigeria, it is blessed not with only Inland water but with also a portion of the Atlantic Ocean under it control. The literary society may not be as advanced as those in other parts of the world, but there are several recognized authors whose books you will have a great time reading. Lastly on my list of Top 20 things to do in Nigeria World is learning a local Song. Talking of music, it is an integral part of the culture of Nigeria . With the numerous tribes in the country, finding a tribe with a song that appeal to your ear would be hard. Get one and memorise it then listen to yourself sing a local song.
